Saint John the Baptist and the memory of the Holy Souls
The Church of San Giovanni Battista alle Anime Sante, adjoining the convent of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, was built in the first half of the eighteenth century. Over time it also became an important pastoral reference point for the local community.

A church in the new city
The building was erected in the first half of the eighteenth century, during the rebuilding of Noto after the 1693 earthquake. It stands beside the complex now associated with the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians.
Saint John the Baptist at the centre of devotion
The high altar preserves an eighteenth-century altarpiece dedicated to Saint John the Baptist together with a statue of the saint. These works form the devotional and iconographic heart of the church.
The establishment of the parish
The Parish of San Giovanni Battista alle Anime Sante was established on 21 November 1957 by Bishop Angelo Calabretta, strengthening the church’s role in the pastoral life of Noto.
